NATURAL RESOURCE MANAGEMENT TRAINER û (2 POSTS)

Job Title: Natural Resource Management Trainer
Supervisor: Training Coordinator
Section: Training

Overall Job Description: The trainer is responsible for developing and implementing modules in the certificate training courses to be held at the Southern African Wildlife College. The trainer will also be involved in specialist short courses covering a broad range of natural resource management topics.

Detailed Job Description:
Training
- Assist with recruiting and confirming appropriate specialist course leaders for relevant sections of modules in certificate course
- Assist with liaising with specialist course leaders in development of certificate course modules
- Co-develop and present the general aspects of the certificate course in conjunction with topic experts
- Use an integrated management plan approach as a basis for certificate course development and presentation
- Assist with maintaining continuity, ensuring a high standard and an integrated approach to adult learning, to ensure achievement of the objectives of the courses
- Assist with short course presentation for field staff from field ranger to mid-manager level
- Develop and present custom-made courses when requested
- Assist in fostering a collegiate relationship between the College and course participants
- Assist the Training Coordinator in curriculum review for the certificate course (and specialist short courses when necessary)
- Coordinate the development of relevant training materials
- Assist with low-level marketing of certificate course
- Assist with ensuring that the requirements of course participants are taken care of
- Incorporate the EMP as a training tool for course participants when appropriate
- Ensure that the code of conduct is adhered to during all training exercises and fieldtrips
- Assist with the adherence to the minimum-impact training policy and ethic by staff, course leaders and course participants

Administrative
- Prepare lesson plans, evaluation forms, etc., for course modules
- Evaluate course participants during and at the end of the course
- Write post-course reports on course participants and course quality
- Assist in the preparation of detailed budgets for operational and capital expenditure for the Training Section
- Provide input for the College database
- Write a monthly report for submission to the Training Coordinator regarding course training activities
- Attend staff meetings
- Do any other tasks delegated by the Training Coordinator

(Suggested) qualifications, skills and experience
- Excellent written and spoken command of English
- Fluency in Portuguese and/or a southern African language an advantage/required
- Excellent organisational, liaison, communication and interpersonal skills
- Broad range of experience as a practising PAM in Africa an advantage
- Previous experience in training PAMs in Africa essential
- Previous experience in working with protected area management plans an advantage
- Appropriate tertiary training qualification a requirement.
